Royal Events’, introduced in 2001, provide the opportunity for Agricultural and Pastoral Societies, to host events under the auspices of the Royal Agricultural Society. These events adhere to the objectives of the Royal Agricultural Society and run under RAS Rules. They are assigned the ‘Royal’ title and operate in any of our spheres of activity either jointly or singularly. (For example, the event may specifically feature any one of those areas of activity – a national sheep show for instance.)

‘Royal Events’ provide an opportunity for A&P Associations who aspire to improve their show to utilise the ‘royal’ brand to gain additional promotion and exposure. They allow for A&P Associations to showcase the diversity of farming and land-based activity on a regional level. With the expansion of urban areas, a Show such as this is often the only opportunity for many to come in contact with the rural aspects of our country.

In addition to the traditional aspects of rural and farming New Zealand that you would expect at a local A&P Show, the ‘Royal Event’ also provides the opportunity for participation from a greater spectrum of the supporting community. It allows for a wider range of exhibits and agricultural display and can offer educational information, the promotion of career opportunities, information and examples of future innovation in the industry, plus much more.
