District Volunteer Honour Awards

Background

These awards have been developed to recognise and celebrate the strength of the A&P movement – our volunteers.   Volunteers are the heart and backbone of our activities – without them our Shows and events wouldn’t happen.  The District Volunteer Honour Awards are our opportunity to recognise our volunteers as the stars they are and thank them for their service.

Appointments for the District Honour Awards are due by 31 March.

There is one award per A&P Association or Breed organisation (domiciled in a District).  Open to anyone who volunteers for your organisation.  All appointments must be completed online or form email return to the District Secretary.

Honour Awards

The honour recognises no one ‘winner’ and is more of an opportunity for members to recognise those key volunteers who contribute so much to the Show/organisation. Whether they are a committee member, steward, helper, organiser or fulfil some other role within your organisation who deserves recognition.  This opportunity is a great way to say ‘thanks’ and let everyone know about all the great work they do.

The District Honour Awards will be presented at the District AGM, held each year.

Each recipient will have their picture and contribution profiled to recognise their District Honour Award.  This will be shared with the membership (newsletter/Facebook) and also the RAS.

District Honour Award appointments will need to include:

·       How long has the person been involved in their role/s?

This could be over a number of roles.

For example: Was a competitor for five years and moved into stewarding in 2010.  Then got involved in running the section in 2015.  Was also a committee member from 2017 – 2021

·       At what level/s have they been involved?

For example:  committee member, chief steward, all-around do it person on show day, etc.

·       What have they contributed? (if you can provide it over a timeline this will be helpful)

·       Any other relevant and helpful information about the person that helps build a picture of why they deserve to be recognised (photos, testimonies, articles, videos etc are all welcome to support the person selected)

Criteria

The person must meet the following criteria in order to receive the District Honour Awards recognition:

  • The person must live in the District they are nominated for
  • They must be a volunteer
  • The person should have made a contribution that has been significant/impactful over their time volunteering in their role/roles
