THOROUGHBRED Show Horse Series

RAS Thoroughbred Show Horse

The demise of the Livamol Thoroughbred Show Horse points series, that has been included in some A&P shows throughout New Zealand in recent years, has left a void for the promotion of the Thoroughbred Horse as a showing exhibit.

They comprise a very high percentage of the horses competing in our show rings.

We are pleased to give notice that starting with the 2024/2025 show season, there will be a new Ridden Thoroughbred Show Horse points series in place, very kindly sponsored by New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR). The details of how this will operate have yet to be finalized, so they will be advised in the future.

Additionally, while it was too late to put in place a full series for this season, there will be a 3 x show accumulator series run at the South Island Premier Show, the NZ National Horse & Pony Show, and the NZ Horse of the Year Show for the 2023/2024 season, also kindly sponsored by NZTR.

We are very pleased to welcome NZTR to the RAS family, and sincerely thank them for their support of the Thoroughbred Show Horse, and our new series.

RAS Livamol Series

Thank you to those who supported the RAS Livamol class at RAS participating Shows and Events through the 2022.2023 show season, and also past show seasons.

Unfortunately, many shows did not forward their results to be loaded on to the website in 2022.2023,  in spite of many requests to do so, which is very frustrating.  The 2023 Horse of the Year Show which was to be the finale of the competition series was unable to be held due to extreme weather conditions.

Therefore, as a result we regret to advise that we unable to provide a Leader Board for the 2022.2023 season.  We sincerely apologise to those who participated, but this is beyond our control.

Apologies also extended to those RAS Livamol class winners at Shows who did not receive their promised bucket of Livamol from the sponsor.

As a result of this, and also as there is no Livamol representative now in New Zealand, the Horse Stewards Council Executive (HSCEx) have made the decision not to continue with the Livamol  sponsored class at affiliated Shows and Events.

However, the HSCEx  are looking at a Thoroughbred class series in the future –  more details will follow at a later date.  In the meantime, it is being suggested to RAS affiliated Shows and Events that they could run a Thoroughbred class at their discretion, which to date has been favoured.

Thank you for your understanding.
