NZTR to sponsor Thoroughbred A&P Show Series

RAS is excited to announce that New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing will continue their commitment to supporting the Royal Agricultural Society by sponsoring the NZTR Thoroughbred A & P Show Series during the 2025.2026 season.

This show season NZTR have added a Newcomer Class for those new Thoroughbreds off the track that has not competed at a RAS affiliated Show before.

This sponsorship, to the value of $10,000, is made possible by funds allocated from the 1% levy on stakes which is used to support and maintain the welfare of thoroughbreds.

The 2026.2027 series will include 30 shows around the country, culminating in a finale at the RASNZ Titles Show in March 2027.  Any show after 22 February 2027 convening a Thoroughbred class, points will go through to the 2027.2028 Series.

List of RAS affiliated Shows/Events participating for 2026.2027, as follows:

• • Northern:  Kaikohe; Whangarei.
  • Mid Northern: Katikati; Tauranga; Te Kauwhata; Te Aroha; Te Aroha H&H; Waikato
  • Eastern: Hawkes Bay; Wairarapa
  • Western: Horowhenua; Stratford; Waimarino; Wanganaui
  • Central: Ashburton; Banks Peninsula; Canterbury; Duvauchelle; Ellesmere; Malvern; Marlborough; Motueka; Nelson; Northern (Rangiora); Oxford; Si Premier; Sth. Canterbury.
  • Southern: North Otago; Otago-Taieri; Southland; Winton.

Competitors are judged on conformation, paces and manners. Successful horses will show true thoroughbred qualities and will be required to gallop when room permits.
