The passing of Queen Elizabeth II

The passing of Queen Elizabeth II

It is with profound sadness this morning we have woken to the news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away at Balmoral, near Aberdeen in Scotland, after serving as our Queen for 70 years.

Queen Elizabeth II has devoted an incredible lifetime of unwavering service, continuity and duty.

It is our great honour as the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand to have a special relationship to the Crown. We appreciate the interest and dedication of the Royal Family to the agricultural and pastoral community throughout the Commonwealth, including in New Zealand.

Dame Cindy Ciro GNZM QSO, our Governor General and Patron of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand, is the Queen’s representative in New Zealand. We will be sharing our deepest condolences with Dame Cindy as well as Buckingham Palace. Our relationship with the Crown continues, as has been reflected in visits to our member A&P associations by various other members of the royal family.

Today however is a time to acknowledge the contribution and loss of an iconic woman. Our thoughts are with her family and those who were closest to her.

Thank you Ma’am.
